===Communication protocols===
Executive/Protocol-A
RBVND-Lite supports EXE, which is communication standard for vending machines and the coin acceptors. The "Executive" protocol (also known as "Exe" or "Protocol-A") was developed as a proprietary standard by Mars (MEI) for communications with payment systems (coin-mechanisms, etc) in vending machines.
MDB | |||
RBVND-Lite supports also MDB, which is another communication standard for vending machines and the coin acceptors. Multi Drop Bus or MDB standard was issued by NAMA and EVA, originally developed by CoinCo Inc. USA. MDB protocol is a real time interface that various peripherals use for communicating with the vending machine controller (VMC).
| |||
RBVND-Lite can operate in MDB sniffer mode. This is non intrusive MDB connection where RBVND-Lite only listens to MDB master (VMC). This can be used to detect if VMC has enabled coin acceptance and if cashless is enabled. This is hint to understand that VM is able to sell products or pending in error state. This mode also supports real-time Cashless purchases.
EVA-DTS | |||
The aim of the EVA DTS is to provide a standard format for data which is required by operators of vending machines. The standard defines the structure of common data elements and describes the means of the transfer of the data. RBVND-Lite is compatible with Vending machines through RS 232 (eg. DB9 and Audio Jack). It supports DEX and DDCMP communication protocol.
